Her current alias "Nina" is a derivative of "Selina". Her surname "Catts" is a nod to Selina Kyle's alias as Catwoman.
ii. Selina, at one point, was shown working as a call-girl in the East End of Gothom before her origin story was revised. She also took to the streets at a young age to escape being in the custody of her abusive state home for orphaned and delinquent girls, Nina similarly ran away from her last foster home in her late teens to take her chances on her own.
